What it is

The larger printed poster at 1,200 by 1,800mm, mounted at eye level where footfall is heaviest — ticket halls and passageways rather than platforms. The rate includes print and posting.

It is the easiest format on the network to buy station by station, and it reaches the outer zones, which the digital estate does less evenly.

Why advertisers use it

The position is the argument: eye level, in the part of the station everybody walks through, at a size a passer-by takes in without stopping. That makes it the default choice for a campaign tied to somewhere local — a shop, a venue, a service in the neighbourhood the station serves.

A printed poster also holds its position for the whole flight. There is no rotation and nothing sharing the frame, so the site is the campaign's for the fortnight rather than one slot in a loop.

Cost

£1,750 per panel, per 2 weeks. Rates move with zone, station footfall and trading period: January and August are the softest, the Christmas run-in the hardest. Print and posting are inside the rate. Comparing it against a digital screen means adding a studio cost to the digital side, which is quoted at planning rather than carried here.

Weighing this against another format? All fifteen compared on cost, dwell and creative.

Booking and lead time

Six to eight weeks ahead is the sweet spot: it protects both the price and the quality of the sites you get. Station dominations and peak trading periods need longer. Copy clearance sits ahead of the on-air date, so leave room for it in the schedule.

Artwork is supplied to this specification and cleared before it runs — what gets rejected, and the deadlines that matter.

Paper or a digital 6-sheet?

They occupy similar positions at similar eye level. Paper holds one execution for the flight, includes print, and reaches further out across the network. The digital equivalent carries motion and takes more than one execution, and its rate excludes the artwork.

Neither is the upgrade of the other. A single message running for a fortnight is exactly what paper is for, and paying a digital premium for flexibility a campaign will not use is the most common way to overspend on this part of the network.
